H264

H246 (AVC) is a common video compression standard used for recording, compressing and distributing HD video. H264 is one of the codec standards for Blu-Ray discs, Adobe Flash, Online video sites such as Vimeo and Youtube, Apple products such as iPhone and TV broadcast.

It is also one of the common HD codecs for real-time video conferencing – in its CPB, BP and SVC Profiles.

H264 SVC (Scalabale Video Coding) is an addition to the original standard, gaining a large momentum in the Video Conferencing world. SVC profiles allow high quality video calls on non-dedicated IP networks that are more likely to packet-loss, such as the Internet. SVC also lower the hardware costs and requirements for Multipoint calls.
